Beauty Broadcast – Liner Love

There is no other eye makeup look which is as universally flattering as winged eyeliner. A classic feline flick worn by Audrey Hepburn, Bridgette Bardot and Sophia Loren is never out of style and makes a return on the catwalks and in editorials each fashion season. Also highly requested by many of my clients I thought I would share some of my fool proof tips to recreating this iconic beauty look.

1. Mac Carbon Eyeshadow

This matte black eyeshadow is the perfect product to use either with a dry or damp eyeliner brush to create a softer and more subtle line. Start by placing the brush on the inner corner of the eye gently resting it at the base of the lash bed and trace along the upper lash line flicking it up at the outer corners.

A good tip is to perfect your line using the powder shadow first as you can easily fix any mistakes using a cotton bud and then trace this line with a liquid or gel formula to create a bolder more defined look.

2. Mac 266 Small Angled Brush

A must have brush to make lining your eyes like pro a reality. This Mac brush is the perfect shape and density to create a precise sharp line with minimal effort. Tilting the brush diagonally as you reach the end of your lash line and flicking it in the direction of the end of your brows will give the desired winged effect.

3. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner

A favourite of mine and one I’ve mentioned previously this liquid liner has a fine felt tip which easily glides along the lash line leaving intense colour which doesn’t fade.

Many do find liquid liner quite daunting but if you take the time to create the perfect shape using the powder shadow first, tracing it with this felt tip liner will be a breeze.

4. Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner

Another must have product gel eyeliner has a great texture and consistency to use with the angled liner brush. It goes on smoothly leaving a precise line which you can build to make thicker for extra drama.
